Navy Rapid Film Developer ( NRD-7 )


Prepare:
Sodium Hydroxide solution
Warm Water ( ~20ºC ) CAS # 7732-18-5 100 ml
slowly add and dissolve
Sodium Hydroxide CAS # 1310-73-2 9.5 grams

Prepare:
Navy Rapid Developer ( NRD-7 ) Working Solution
Warm Water ( ~50ºC ) CAS # 7732-18-5 300 ml
add and dissolve
Kodak Elon
P-Methylaminophenol Sulfate
CAS # 55-55-0 6.15 grams
Sodium Sulfite ( Anhydrous ) CAS # 7757-83-7 26.2 grams
Hydroquinone CAS # 123-31-9 7.4 grams
Sodium Hydroxide solution All from prior step
Potassium Bromide CAS # 7758-02-3 3.7 grams
then add
Cold Water ( ~20ºC ) CAS # 7732-18-5 To make 500 ml


Development time is 40 seconds at 20ºC with constant agitation. Stop in ordinary stop bath for 5 seconds, optional, but advisable. Immerse in the NRF-5 fixing bath with constant agitation for twice the time the emulsion takes to clear. In general, 30 seconds to 2 minutes in fresh solutions give the most satisfactory results.
